Alyssa Katz-Victor is SOS Dignity’s International Watchdog Counsel
Alyssa Katz-Victor is an international lawyer. She is a member of the California and Quebec Bars.

Alyssa was born in New York and has lived in Montreal since 1989. She received her BA with honours in History from the State University of New York at Binghamton and her JD from Loyola Law School Los Angeles. While at Loyola, she was an editor for the International and Comparative Law Journal where she published a practical guide for foreign lawyers representing Soviet Jews in the USSR. She practiced commercial transaction law for several years in California, and then studied at McGill Faculty of Law in Montreal, Canada for two years in order to qualify in Quebec. Being qualified to practice in both common law and civil law jurisdictions, Alyssa is knowledgeable in comparative law and the democratic legal process and protections necessary to safeguard basic human and individual rights.

Alyssa’s participation in SOS Dignity involves international advocacy for the rights of marginalized, excluded or bullied members of society. She has appeared in court with SOS Dignity’s lawyers as part of the defence team, thus sending a message to judges and prosecutors that their actions are the subject of international scrutiny.
